I’ve finally joined instagram: https://www.instagram.com/emcooperanimation/
It has been a labour of love, and it is now out there in the world. I’m truly taken aback by all the generous comments and messages.
The Stella Artois/Water.org Christmas ad is out! I co-directed the advert with US photographer Mark Seliger. A bit of a divergence from my usual oil paint, for the animation on this, I used watercolour. 253 individual watercolour paintings on paper went into this! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2wJjrAIlOQA
It’s a great honour to find out that I have been nominated for an Emmy Award for my animation on the documentary DEEJ. http://emmyonline.com/newsemmy The whole team are looking forward to the ceremony in NYC on 1st Oct!
Fantastic news: the documentary DEEJ has won a prestigious Peabody Award in the USA. The awards for excellence in broadcast storytelling, have been awarded annually since 1941, and I am delighted that DJ Savarese’s story has joined the winners of this distinguished accolade! http://www.peabodyawards.com/award-profile/america-reframed-deej
Deej screened as part of America ReFramed on PBS World in the USA this week. The film tells the inspiring story of DJ Savarese: a young American poet and playwright with severe autism, as he struggles to gain independence and a place at a mainstream university. The film includes sequences of my oil-painted animation bringing to life DJ’s poetry and his inner world. Whilst the film is not out in the UK yet, the DVD is available through the film’s website: https://www.deejmovie.com/
