Fantastic news: the documentary DEEJ has won a prestigious Peabody Award in the USA. The awards for excellence in broadcast storytelling, have been awarded annually since 1941, and I am delighted that DJ Savarese’s story has joined the winners of this distinguished accolade!

Deej screened as part of America ReFramed on PBS World in the USA this week. The film tells the inspiring story of DJ Savarese: a young American poet and playwright with severe autism, as he struggles to gain independence and a place at a mainstream university. The film includes sequences of my oil-painted animation bringing to life DJ’s poetry and his inner world. Whilst the film is not out in the UK yet, the DVD is available through the film’s website:
